US Cup No More

Downtown, along with several other teams, have been eliminated from the US Cup. Downtown took on an impressive Colorado Springs Crushers team. The Crushers dominated the game with nearly 60% possession in both halves. The Crushers came out and proved their point early in the game when Oliver Rafael scored in the fourteenth minute. Downtown was able to defend off another goal until the thirty ninth minute when Umberto Costa scored. Herbert Corley was the next to score for the Crushers in the 77th minute. A brilliant strike from Downtown’s Cengizhan Birdal did little to save face in the 88th min to bring back the score to 3-1. The Crusher’s Herbert Corley  quickly eliminated any dreams Downtown had by scoring just shortly after Birdal making the final score of the game 4-1. The Crushers move on in the US CUP and Downtown is out and will go back to playing friendly games. The returning Cheesehead Cup champions will look to show an impressive front in this years tournament.

Jotunheim played Richmond Ramspur. Richmond possessed the ball nearly 70% of the match. Jaaknoaho and Godinez both scored two goals for the dominating Richmond team. Locklear and  Felix also scored for the dominating squad. Jesper Madsen had a particularly good game for the Jotunheim side. Manager Shizza appeared to be impressed with how his defense was playing, but were still no match for a dominating Richmond side. Manager Shizza advised that he will now have his team prepping for the Cheesehead Cup. Jotunheim has made several good acquisitions to their team and look to be a dominating force in the Cheesehead Cup.

The Springfield Tenderfeet’s had a close game with Hashemi Law FC. Hashemi appeared to have the majority of possession. It was a fairly close game with both teams having limited amount of chances on goal. It wasn’t until the 71st min when Pantoia scored breaking the deadlock. Van Vuuren appeared to put the last nail in the coffin in the 73rd min that made it 2-0. The Tenderfeet had little consolation when Rolfi buried  one in the back of the net. The match ended 2-1. Tenderfeet were also eliminated from the US CUP and will no doubt also be looking forward to the Cheesehead CUP. The Tenderfeet won the very first Cheesehead Cup and look to win it again at the end of this season.

The Halestorm appeared to have better luck winning against Team Discovery Channel. The Halestorm possessed the ball nearly 55% of the game. Seix and Fuliano were noted down as the goal scorers in the match. The Halestorm’s midfield and offense appeared to be the deciding factor in the matchup. Discovery Channel’s offence did little in the way of setting up chances. Team Discovery Channel will battle against The Halestorm again next week. Only then will we see if the teams will make adjustments to their lineups.

More to follow as more news is relayed.
