After last week’s great victory over Horus Falcons at Edfu, the Gold Rushers traveled to Abydos to face Blankaholms bolltrollare for the second game in the group stage of the Pharaoh’s Cup. This site has a relation to Horus too, as here a temple is located who seems to be dedicated to Osiris, the father of Horus. Osiris died twice. His brother Seth, the one who was fought by Horus at Edfu later, murdered him by throwing him into the Nile in a sealed coffin. Osiris’ wife Isis searched and found the coffin and brought Osiris back to life, she must have been a sorceress or something like that. After he died again she finally buried him at Abydos. Osiris became the God of the Underworld. Now, let’s hope that our guys won’t even die once.
The ball wizards of Sweden tried to keep a close result with a defensive 4-5-1 formation, but still it was Dölf Bilon, who had the first big chance in the game, and after 26 minutes it was up to Theo Horber to open the score, when he rushed through the lines on the left side. But only one minute later bolltrollare got a penalty to kick and Daniel Stjärnen made the score even. After several big chances it was Malte Wehrda who could bring the Gold Rushers in the lead again before the break.
Not ten minutes in the second half and Bruno Aoustin raised the lead, so that Rünenberg was up by two and it looked very good at this time, but then Simone Casano collected his second yellow card about twenty minutes before the end of the game and Rünenberg had to play with only two defenders ‘cause Loïc Genhart had not in mind to reduce the offensive strength. Acting as if nothing happened, Rünenberg had some big chances again, but they missed every single one until Dölf Bilon kicked a penalty in the net and made everything clear. Loïc Genhart was obviously happy with the result but not with Simone:
It looks like we are back in town! The guys managed to win already four games since we went through these crises. We are now already qualified for the semis, after only two rounds, that’s more than we expected before the tournament started. The only bad thing today was the lost of control of Simone, when he tackled that hard in the second half with already one card on his account. I have to talk to him later; such things won’t be helpful in any game but especially in close games. He has to work on that!
Right after this game the lads traveled to England again, and hoped that the arranged game against Malcolm Mania will really take place at Leeds in Yorkshire. We are not sure what spectacle does await our guys when they enter the stadium, it could be dinosaurs from the fossil coast or – what we prefer much more – good music, i.e. performed by Joe Cocker or the Kaiser Chiefs. The Malcolms are a very well known team throughout Hattrickunited, most because of their extraordinary blog, but also because they have played many Golden League games so far. Their biggest success within their short history, slightly more than a year, was when they promoted to the fifth division, but unfortunately they have been relegated only one season later. Right now, they are on duty to repeat this success after they finished the former season on runner-up position!
There have been 2417 spectators watching both teams entering the pitch. It was a great ambiance but no dinos and no live music, but a lot of Malcolms instead. It took 22 minutes before one of the team had his first chance to score and it was Marian Dominguez who attempted twice within three minutes, but he saw his shots both saved by Malcolm Tillen, a great keeper by the way. Eugenio Cioccarelli made it better seven minutes later, when he took his chance out of a big mistake of the home team defence and brought the Gold Rushers into the lead. Only a minute later Dominguez had another big chance but he missed the goal. The both teams took their break with a 3-0 lead of Rünenberg. Guido Dübendorfer was the one who scored the two additional goals.
Right after the break something strange happened, when suddenly a Bill entered the pitch in the kit of the Malcolms. Three minutes later Bruno Ginesu closed the scoring of the Gold Rushers. In minute 61 Malcolm Johansson was sent off with a red card, he started a scuffle, we don’t know what the reason was. Close to the end of the game Joël Taillefer had one more chance but he wasn’t able to score. On the other hand Malcolm Messina took an advantage out of the inexperience of Domenico Amrein and killed the clean sheet, by setting the score-line of 1-4 pro Rünenberg. And of course the coach was satisfied again:
It was a great game in front of an awesome audience and the lads managed in a brilliant way to add these three points on our account. Now I’ll invite the team to ‘the Eyrie’ to have some fun with karaoke!
We’re not really sure about if it will be fun to hear these guys sing, but who knows.
