Will he come back?

Dario Pfyl

There was a sad moment a quarter hour before yesterday’s game against FC Sepic ended, when Dario Pfyl, the 35 years old midfielder was carried of the pitch after he was the victim of a rude foul. After the ended – the Gold Rushers won by 3-0 – we went to the medical center at Sutter’s Mill to see how Dario’s doing. He got some pain reliever and was waiting for further examinations. We took the chance a asked him some questions, after he agreed to answer them.

Dario, how do you feel? I mean the attack seemed very brutal.

Better since I got the medication, but before it was terrible! I really can’t understand how someone could go into a fight like this, especially when it’s ‘only’ a friendly. After the first examinations it looks like my ankle is very hard damaged and Franz told me that it would take four weeks at least.

This is a long time! How would you use it?

It is a long time, yes, and as we know I’m not a young lad anymore, therefore I have to be patient, ‘cause it maybe takes much longer than expected. I recently started with my education to become a coach. As long I’m not able to train or do the practical lessons I will use the time to learn the theoretical parts as much as possible.

Could to here you’ll not going to die because of boredom. What would be the stuff in that?

The theoretical stuff? It would be about physicals, tactics, food and things like this. There will be a part about how important the mental things are. How to work with and handle different types of characters is also included in the theoretical part of the education, but most things have to be done in action later. Loïc Genhart showed me already a lot of things since I joined the team, as everybody knew I would become the next coach of the Gold Rushers.

You have joined the team a bit more than a season ago; in the meantime you know how Loïc is working very well. Do you think you will do things different?

I like the way he is working very much. He’s expecting that every player adhere strictly to his orders, and if we followed his instructions he’s giving us some spare time in which we can play with the ball without pressure. Of course he’s still watching us and from time to time he’s picking someone out to give him a special lesson. I really think that it is a perfect way to keep the team between the stick and the carrot. He has also a very good hand when it comes to get the best out of the new talents joining the first squad.

Goin Reinhard and Joël Taillefer are the two actual newbie’s from RJs, what do you think about them?

They had a great time in the Academy, especially Joël! He has an average scoring rate of one goal per match, that’s great. Today they played their second game and even they have already noticed that it is another level, they’re doing their best to show their abilities, and both missed the score only close today. I’m sure if we give them enough time, and they stay long enough, they’ll be in the starting line-up sometime. All other outcomes from RJs (Arnold Meneske, Eugenio Cioccarelli, Malte Wehrda and Gaudenz Straub – are the names of them) were patient and finally took their chance. Can you imagine the Gold Rushers without them?

There will be missing something, for sure. Do you think that you will be missed the next few weeks?

Sure, there has to be one who’s responsible for the jokes! Seriously? No, I think the team is well formed and structured that their are others who can take my part. They are pro’s and Loïc will find the right players to earn the biggest possible success out of the upcoming league-games. And sooner or later we will play the Golden League again, I’m looking very much forward to give my come back in that competition.

Many thanks for taking the time and answering our questions. We wish you all the best and a fast recovery.

The next game is away against FC Lions Reutenen. It will be a hard game, because they are very strong, but we think Rünenberg is able to compete with them and maybe take at least one point.

7-0, but still defeated

It was a wonderful Monday morning when the 22 players of Horus Falcons and FC Rünenberg entered the pitch in – well, let’s say – Ireland. It was the fourth time these two teams met on foreign ground to play a tournament game. The first three encounters have been close and exciting until the very end and it have been the Falcons to win two of them. Would it be a close game again?

The round about 30’000 spectators were split 50-50 in two groups and they made noise as if there are more than a hundred thousand! While the Followers of Horus hoped for Mikhail Llosa to kill the opponents the Gold Rushers were curious about how their team will stop him. Will Rünenberg be able to stop the three-times HTUM Award winner?

But let us now get started with telling you how the game was and you’ll give the answers afterwards. The two teams ordered their usual formations: both played in a 3-5-2, this must be a game with many goals! After only a few minutes played two things were obvious: Bruno Aoustin was happy with the weather, as he was able to use his wonderful ball-treatment, and Bruno Ginesu got the order to be Llosa’s shadow! Rünenberg started great into the game when Alfred Burch had his first chance in minute 12, but the keeper of the Falcons stopped him, and only three minutes later the same man, named Pedro Luíz Azavedo, saved a shot of Dölf Bilon. And their was another noticeable chance during the first half when Dario Pfyl was able to pass the keeper but his shot was saved by one of the defenders.

The game wasn’t a hour played when Dario Pfyl had another big chance to score but Azavedo could make a big save again and it shouldn’t be the end: a quarter hour later Bruno Ginesu’s shot was blocked by the defenders of the Falcons again. The Gold Rushers fought until the end and they tried everything! In minute 86 it was Alfred Burch, who tried to take the advantage out of chaos in the box, but there was a leg of a defender who saved again. The last chance was up to Dölf Bilon: he got a free kick three minutes before the game ended! The crowd was quiet, as he prepared the ball as he always does, because Dölf Bilon is comparable with Mikhail Llosa. The guys fought in the box to get the best possible starting position, therefore the referee had to interrupt the game again and calm some of the players. A spooky silence was in the stadium. We never have heard a whistle so clear! Dölf started up and kicked the ball, many players tried to head or catch the ball, but none was able to… but the ball missed the goal close by touching the outer part of the pole! While the supporters of Rünenberg closed their eyes and shaken their heads the Followers of Horus chanted and yelled! The game was over! How does Loïc Genhart feel after this game?

The guys played a fantastic game today! The Falcons had no single reported chance out of the game, but it was outstanding how the whole team helped to keep the goal clean. Bruno Ginesu made a great job; he was able to stop Mikhail Llosa throughout the whole game. But unfortunately he couldn’t do anything to prevent him from kicking that penalty.

This tournament is over! FC Rünenberg lost 0-1 against Horus Falcons in a very exciting game! We wish the Falcons good luck in the semi final and looking forward to meet them again someday.

Back on Track

First of all we like to let you know that this blog is now known all over the world, as last week the first visitor from the continent of Africa joined us! We are very proud and thankful about this!

But now let’s talk about the past weekend: The management of FC Rünenberg published a short announcement on their HT-Site before the games started on Saturday. This announcement was about: It’s time to celebrate victories after the defeats in the opening game a week ago and the second cup-round last Wednesday! Mr. Schluurggi said about this before the game:

We have our back to the wall! Now we must show that we know who we are and we believe in that. We are aiming to reach the runner-up position at the end of the season; therefore we have to earn some points! And we have to start collecting them now!

We like to inform you about RJs game, before the game of the Gold Rushers against Mumbi-Tigers starts. The boys played their third game with a 4-4-2 formation, and it looked like they are now familiar with it. The opponent, called 5.11.2010, used a 5-3-2 tactic but was far away from keeping their goal shut. At the end RJs approved their leading position with a great 7-0 home-win! Five talents scored the seven goals. When Bernard Rosenhammer and Kari Wechlin we’re responsible for two goals each, Raoul Silling, Heribert Zehnder and Markus Sanson scored once. Next week the boys have to travel to their biggest rival: Jungstarfighters! Hannes Bratschi was very happy about what his talents showed today:

Ok, today’s opponent wasn’t a big challenge, but anyway the boys did a great job! And this win is much more important after the draw of last week and regarding the big upcoming fight next weekend. We are still on our way to earn the fifth title this season and I’m sure the boys intend to show that! Today we used our big advantage and tested a few talents, which have recently signed or didn’t have to chance to play very often: It looks like the most promising new talent is the fifteen year young Timon Blank, he did a great job in his first game. Fabrizio Riediker will have to find his position, but I’m confident he will. On the other hand we have to think about Albrecht Neubrecht, he wasn’t able to satisfy on neither position so far.

Now, there we are! 26’537 spectators came to Sutter’s Mill to see if the Gold Rushers will be able to come back on the right track, the winning one! And it took only 16 minutes until Guido Dübendorfer had the first chance in the game but his shot missed the target. In minute 23 and 24 Bruno Aoustin and Dölf Bilon made it better, when they brought their colors up by two. While Bruno Aoustin scored after an attack from the right side, Dölf Bilon did what he is famous for: he scored a penalty! Only four minutes later the Tigers shorten the lead with nice goal through the center, but ten minutes before the break the referee pointed another time onto the white point in the box, and Dölf Bilon scored again. Therefore the teams took their break with a score of 3-1 pro Rünenberg.

The second half started with a big chance for Nik Zenger, but he missed like his opponent Ross Bains only a minute later, and so did Guido Dübendorfer in minute 72. But this young striker didn’t stop trying and only one minute after his last chance he finally scored and set the final score-line of 4-1. And it was free kick again! After the game we had to talk about that with Loïc Genhart:

It’s really amazing, yes. We played six games within these last two weeks, including the tournament games. We scored 21 goals within these matches and eight of them have been through set pieces! This is very good ratio and it makes us confident that we are able to score in every game. Maybe this will even make the difference in one or another game, like the one against VFJ.

Congrats to the teams for this great weekend and hopefully they are able to keep that pace from now on! Next will be the quarter final against Horus Falcons, so please stay tuned! We will inform you about what happened very soon!
