sign of life

It’s ten month since the most friendly, unselfish and charming character left Rünenberg. Today we got a sign of life of our beloved lady in black.

When I arrived at my office this morning I thought this might become a day like every other. I started my computer and of course the coffee machine. As usual I opened up all windows to get a bit of fresh air in the room and I turned on the radio as long as I was waiting for that beeping which gives me the sign that my computer starts working slowly. As soon as the login screen appeared I typed my login and password to get access to the mail-server and the internal network. Still I had to wait to start working, but fortunately the coffee maker was ready earlier, so I was able to pour my first cup of coffee today. Someday I have to talk to Sir Schluurggi and ask him for a faster machine.

The fresh brewed coffee was nearly empty when all the incoming mails were downloaded to my local account and then I was ready to start reading and sort them, but first I had to close the windows again, because it started to snow outside. I really can’t believe that it’s still snowing in the end of March; it looks like spring has no intension to come along this year. There have been lots of emails from supporters and friends from all corner of the world, the most asking for the decision of which trophy the Gold Rushers will go after. As I got the order to not answer these kinds of questions but forward them to the manager instead, I quickly went through them.

Others sent their congratulations to Georg Casabella, as he’s got married in Finland last weekend, and I forwarded these messages to his account, no matter that he won’t read them before he and his lovely wife will be back from their honeymoon. There were also people asking about what Micha Loderer and his mates of the GL council are doing these days and if there would be any kind of changes for the upcoming fourth season. Another group of mails I was allowed to forward. And then there still was a not little amount of messages left, which I had to check if they are spam or important. But before I started doing this, I had to go out and have a cigarette before I poured another cup of coffee.

When I came back to my place the radio played a song of the Rolling Stones, a song I like very much and therefore I started to sing along and reveled in old times when I was a singer in a band performing this song. I went through all these messages and deleted the most of them, since nobody is interested in ‘winner notifications’ and stuff like this and when the song nearly ended a message popped in my eyes. I was a message from an account which I have seen once, but I couldn’t remember when or whom it belongs to. The headline called “hope you’re doing fine, my friends” and there was an attachment. When I opened that picture, I nearly fell of my chair, and I’m sure the same would have happened to you, if you were in my place. Check this out:

And that’s now what she wrote:

My dearest friends

I really hope you all are doing fine there in Switzerland. As I have seen you made it to the fifth division already, congratulations on that, you have surely deserved this achievement. Keep your head up high even though it looks to be a hard job to stay there, I’m sure you’ll reach what you’re aiming for. I’m following your rush for gold as good as I can, but unfortunately internet is not available everywhere here in Egypt.

Yes, I got a job here in Egypt since nearly half a year, but first I had some jobs in other clubs around the world after I left you in May last year. Actually I’m working in a hospital, where I had a patient you might know since he is the manager of one of the most famous teams in the Golden League. I was so happy that he soon was sound enough to return to Prague. I hope Horus is doing fine now and has no afterpains at all.

Since your actual season is coming to an end soon, the Golden League should end its third season as well, if I got that right and it looks like you guys still have the chance to get that trophy again, so do me the favor and keep it, as I would like to see it when I pass by for a visit! ;-) This could happen soon, as my fixed-term contract is coming to an end.

I’m really looking forward to meet you guys again and get to know the new ones in your club. Maybe there is a chance to meet some of the other Golden League mates too, this would be really great!

Even though I’m very busy here, I still have enough time to remember and I have to say that I miss you all! Just in case you miss me a little bit too, I enclosed this snapshot. I hope you like it :-)

Take care, guys.

Angie

P.S. please share this with all the others I know

When I finished this email I couldn’t remember what I was supposed to do. Actually I had troubles to focus on anything; at least I knew this will be no ordinary day anymore! I really don’t know how the radio is doing this, but they always play the right song at the right time: right now their playing “this girl is on fire”!

voted ‘Best Blog 48′

Last week the seasonal award ceremony of the ‘Hattrick United Managers Federation’ was held for the third time. Please see the official posts on HU-Press and the HTUM-Blog.

It was about to honor the nominated best blogs, when the winner of last season, manager Leebebbs of Renaissance FC, entered the stage to tell us more about the nominees:

And now it is my great honour to announce the next award, specifically the award for the Best Blog in the HTU Managers Federation on Hattrick United. It was a great compliment for me to be nominated in this category, having won the award at the previous awards… but now I am especially pleased to be able to announce the new winner. So apart from Renaissanc FC, who are the other nominees?

FC X-Team’s blog by Xuturo is one of the outstanding original blogs as regards original post ideas, with some recent journeys into poetry but not only! Cuomos’ blog for Vi Flaesker Jer always has dynamic and eye-catching visuals and ideas, with quality posts containing multimedia enhancing the reading experience. Schluurggi’s FC Runenberg blog is the one blog in this category which seems to tick all the boxes whilst providing a crisp and clean finish. Lupachuk’s Klaukkala Bears blog has seen the biggest aesthetic change as the Bears persona is created in greater detail there. There are so many blogs in this Federation, which didn’t even get in the nominations which could have easily. The competition is fierce but also friendly.

Despite this, only one can be chosen and the name of the winner is in this envelope.

Reveals a shiny golden envelope containing the winning blog. Slowly, he opens it and peeks at the name inside, and smiles

I’m pleased to say, that the winning blog is one I personally voted for. Outstanding design, post content, visually pleasing, full of information about the team and competitions, and truly an example for the new blogs in our Federation… the winner is:

Mr. Schluurggi talking to the audience

Standing ovations brought a tremendous noise into the room, while Mr. Schluurggi found his way up to the speaker’s desk. When he arrived he took Lee’s hand and whispered something to him. Both started laughing and presented each other to the audience! As Lee has left the stage, Schluurggi tried to calm the audience:

Thank you Lee! Well, now I’m in troubles. I have heard rumors that FC Rünenberg maybe will win one of these eminently respectable awards, but I have really not believed in them, because all the nominees – and not only these – are great blogs, with awesome design and interesting stories. Some of them have extraordinary inputs, others very special widgets, and that’s why this decision must have been very close! The award is a great honor!

He made a break and it seemed like he’s searching for the right words before he continued:

I would like to share it with all of you – the other team managers, because without your work, our blog won’t look as it does and even the stories wouldn’t be of that kind. Your tips helped us to provide the world with a better design, your blogs inspired us to provide the world with informative widgets and your words brought our best stories to life! Thank you all for helping and for awarding us! I promise we’ll do our best to keep our standard or even lift it to higher levels, but still we’ll keep things clean and simple! Take care, and once again: Thank you!

He smiled and left the stage hearing another round of applause!

We, the web-content team like to thank you all, who are visiting this blog, no matter if you are here for the first time or a frequent reader. It is big fun to share these stories with you, but it’s even more special when we know there is someone who’s interested in! Finally we like to provide you with some facts about this blog:

There have been round about 1’380 hits on our website during the last sixteen weeks. More than 100 visitors from not less than 30 countries all around the world have joined us 776 times. We have posted 42 stories and these have been discussed with 160 comments! The most read articles have been the pre-match press conference, followed by the talk of Serge Noftziger with ‘the Ace’, the stories around Angie – the nurse, and the introduction of Sutter’s Mill. Regarding the pages, which are linked in the top menu, the management page is the most read one, followed by all the others close together. This ranking is based on direct hits. The most visited page – about 45% – is of course the homepage itself.

And now, please excuse us: we have to clean the trophy!

We’ll be back.

Happiness and sadness are so close

MS Park in Odense, Denmark: beautiful weather, great audience and twenty two players on the pitch ready to go for success in this Golden League encounter between MS Odense and FC Rünenberg. All was set for an interesting and exciting match yesterday afternoon.

And it started quite good for Rünenberg, when Norbert Leimgruber scored by penalty in the seventh minute of the game. And it should stay good for them. Though MSO was able to equalize the score after 14 minutes FCR kept the lead when Guido Dübendorfer scored only one minute later. Ten minutes later Serge Noftziger had not an idea of troubles saving the lousy shot of Jelko Indihar, the scorer for the equalizer before. Because Eugenio Cioccarelli missed his chance before the break the scoreboard showed a half-time result of 2-1 pro Rünenberg.

In the second half it was MSO who pushed forward and put more pressure on the defence of the Gold Rushers, but they missed every single chance. After the substitution of Guido Dübendorfer by Marian Dominguez eight minutes before the end of the game, it was up to Bruno Ginesu to set the final score of 3-1. Loïc Genhart was satisfied by this victory:

It was very clear that it wouldn’t be an easy thing here in Odense, since we knew that there will be some of the better guys in the lineup of MSO, but our guys made a great job and the right team took the win!

Due to the fact, all three runner-ups have won their game and two of them with a walkover, the advantage of Rünenberg is not that comfortable anymore. VFJ has earned eleven points, including three points for a hattrick of Kai Rheinheimer, and Los Mejores earned eight points. Therefore the top of the table looks as follows: #1 FC Rünenberg – 53, #2 VFJ – 39, #3 Los Mejores – 36.

And now the team has to get ready for the last official game of this season, and with a bit of luck they will have to play one more, but this is not only up to them. We are pretty sure, that the upcoming matchday this Saturday will be very interesting!

Now something completely different but not less important:

We were ready to publish this post, when it was knocking on our door and Angie entered. She handed an envelope to us, smiled and left our office. As we are very curious people, we didn’t hesitate to open it and found this letter in it:

Letter of Angie

When we realized what is written in this letter, we hurried to the window to catch here before she’s gone. Both teams including the staff were there to say goodbye. We called her and she turned around. “When you need me be assured I won’t be far away.” she said and waved goodbye. We heard the words of an old Uriah Heep song from the radio behind us: ‘Thus having spoke she turned away and though I found no words to say I stood and watched until I saw her black cloak disappear.’ They couldn’t have played a more suitable song at this time! This is the last picture of her here in Rünenberg, our lady in black!

Angie's leaving :-(

Farewell Angie, we’ll miss you too!
