Season 43 Week 7

We played 3Monsters in a critical game this week for our division. I decided to come out in a 3-5-2, mostly considering 3Monsters likes to play a 3-4-3 and attack the middle. I needed to strengthen my defense, even though I’ve been loving playing my 2-5-3 lately. I felt like I was in control for most of the game, until my team decided to fall back and just play defense. That really hurt my offensive ratings for the match and I gave away a second goal because of it. Overall it was a very important win for us. We collect 3 points at home and keep a slim lead in the division. Everyone else had very comfortable wins this week, which will put some pressure on us going into next week. I’m hoping for a few upsets going into next week, so we can have some leeway going into the final weeks of the season.

Training 4/24/14

Our training this week was a productive week with 2 players improving in scoring. Shaheem Maja (F) and Jongilizwe Neimand (M) both improved in scoring. I love this because both players are starters, and Maja is home-grown, which will only help my overall scoring ability. Neimand’s scoring was the weakest part of his game, so to see him improve, makes him more all-round and at 19, an exciting prospect who is growing very quickly. We will continue to train scoring as we look to continue to improve our scoring ability. Hopefully our younger forwards will improve in the coming weeks, so we can concentrate on other areas of our team.

Orange Crush FC v Die Voorvelle (1-7)

This match was the second round of the South African Cup and we were outclassed before the match even started. Knowing this I decided to use this match as more a training match and to get team spirit up going into the weeks ahead. I came out in a 2-5-3 training scoring for the week. We were put out of our misery with a 1-7 defeat, but take gate receipts of 170k from the match. The leap from division 4 to 3 is like a canyon in South Africa. Our team will have to get better if we are looking to get to the next level. At least we got some playing time for some players that do not usually get capped. All-in-all I accomplished my goal by getting into the second round of the cup. Now we can concentrate on the league ahead. Our next match is a very tough one on the road at SAB Miller Mooks. They have always played us tough, and knowing their manager, it will be a very tough match. I would love to take away 3 points from that match, it would put us in a great position to retain the title for a third season.

Orange Crush FC v Rising Tide (4-1)

Another chapter in the rival started the 4th season in the league for Orange Crush FC. We were very focused on the big game and needed a nice result to begin our campaign. We did just that turning in probably our best performance as a team to date. We dominated the action from the match, as Rising Tide surprised all by playing a 5-2-3. We easily took the midfield 80-20 along with the tempo of the game. The inexperience of Rising Tide in that formation also helped the cause and we will able to pass 4 goals by there solid keeper Felix Hollander. The result was just what we need, as we had to defend our home turf. 3Monsters crushed SAB Miller Mooks in there matchup, showing that they would love to contend for the title this year. The league has gotten off to a thunderous start and now we look ahead to a cup match mid-week and a tough away match at SAB Miller Mooks. I’m very pleased at how our season has started out of the gate. Along with some good training, we could really put together a historical season for Orange Crush FC. Guido Torroni, our new coach, hopefully is what we need to get over hump. If we can have him improve our young players this season, we will only grow together as a very powerful unit in South Africa. A huge win against our rivals this week, maybe will give the boys enough confidence to move forward and stride for another trophy this season.

Training 4/17/14

We had a very good training session as we had 8 players out of 11 pop in Set Pieces. We only had the cup match for the week, so we decided on another week with Set Pieces. Our team has vastly improved in that department the last 2 years and our young players already have some decent levels at Set Pieces. But now the focus is switched over to Scoring. We feel we haven’t worked on this sector enough of the last couple of years and have some players that need the work. Plus, with a goal of auto-promoting, you must be able to score a lot of goals to get a very good goal difference to make that mark. So as we change our training, we would like to see many players make the jump to the next level, so our opponents can be worried about our good our attack really is.

Galilion v Orange Crush FC (0-3)

Our first match of the season was Round 1 of the South African Cup. We surprising took the game 3-0 after some bold tactics that we used. I decided to play a 5-4-1 and counter-attack because Galilion was so strong in the midfield. The problem for them was only playing with 2 defenders as they played a 2-5-3. There defense was not strong enough to hold off any counter-attack and we hit them for 3 goals, 2 coming from Chris Grand. It was a very rewarding victory and gets us to the next round of the cup, where we will have a home match against an opponent who is vastly superior to us. The advantage for us is at least we are at home, and will reap the benefits through ticket sales. Depending on how our team looks, this could be used as a training match to get our players ready for the grueling season in DivIV.6. I was very pleased with the victory and our new coach, who claimed his first victory of his career. It’s a nice start to a brutal start to our season. We now get our rivals Rising Tide in the league for Week 1. At least it will be at Orange Crush FC Arena, which now stands at 28,000. It would be very nice to sell that match out following Round 2 of the South African Cup. After those 2 matches, I hit the road and go to SAB Miller Mooks, which will be a very tough match. Hopefully things will fall our way and if we can walk away from that with 6 points, then we will have a great shot at winning the league this season.

Season 4 Goals

We had a tremendous season in our 3rd campaign. We won the title by 5 points over our rivals Rising Tide. We now have 2 titles in 3 seasons, but we have yet to promote to Div3 as we have lost 2 tough qualification matches. This season will be the tough to date, since every team has gotten stronger during the break. I feel like we will have a decent shot at the title again but we will definitely have competition for it. Rising Tide, our rivals, probably have the best midfield in the division and will control most games from the midfield. Hopefully they don’t pull away too much or they will have an easy time disposing everyone in the division. 3Monsters is a very strong team that seems like they are training scoring. They play a very strong 3-4-3 and really test your defense. They have the most talent in the division (TSI) but have yet to put it all together to win a title. SAB Miller Mooks also has a great shot at the title this year, and probably has the best defense in the division. Can they get enough points on the road to clinch the title this division? FC German Springboks is a team that can ruin your title hopes. A extremely strong goalkeeper, but not a good enough team to win the division. If you drop points against this team, which is possible, you could lose the title. They aren’t a bad team, but all-around can’t win the title without some help. killer pirates, a newer team, played very well towards the end of last season. They could surprise a few teams and maybe finish in the top half with some surprising results. Soccer Teltow 75 has gone the route of training younger players and is probably still a season or two away from competing in this division. Mental Shooters will be that team everyone gets goals from cause they are the only bot in our league. The key is to try to get as much as you can to help your goal difference out to help your overall standing. In the end, I honestly think this season will be tough to repeat for us, but I think we can win the title, if we can get through the gauntlet of games ahead of us. Now for our goals for Season 4 for Orange Crush FC:

Win the League and Auto-Promote: Our goal this year to retain the title again, but also try to auto-promote. We have disappointed with the last two qualification matches, missing out even though we thought we should have made it through. It will be a very tough and lofty goal, but we expect this considering what we have accomplished the past two seasons.

Advance to Round 2 of the SA Cup: We had a very tough draw for the cup this year. It’s highly unlikely that we get through, but I would really like to advance if I could. Round 2 would give us a home match, and I would love to take the extra revenue home for our club. The extra revenue could be an excess of 200k for the club.

Training: We are working on scoring for the first couple of weeks as we look to try to improve our attack even more. We picked up an magnificent forward in the off-season and look to try to score as many goals as we can. I would like to improve more of our home-grown forwards and wingers as much as possible for this season. We might also do a little bit with wing attacks or playmaking depending on how we matchup with everyone else in the division.

Youth Academy: We have a couple of very talented youngsters coming into the fold for next season. The top 2 players that we are most excited about are Jeremiah Hamrick and Metsing Nunens. Hamrick is a player who has 5 inadequates in all he key places and is only 17yr. I can literally train him in anything I want. Nunens will be a player that comes up on his 17th birthday. He will have solid playmaking and passable winging with a head attribute. I could really turn this player into a winger, or even sell him and reap the benefits.

Arena: We have expanded on our arena this year and it now sits at 28k seats. I would like to place another 7,000 seats in by the end of this season to up our total of our arena to 35,000. I would really like to do this as our club only continues to grow and get ready for Div3. Eventually I would like to get my stadium to a seating capacity of 50k.

Staff: With the new staffing system, we continue to slowly grow with it. Under the old system we were spending 32k on our staff. We have decided to increase that number to 43k. That will gives us 3 assistants at level 10, a medic at level 3, and a spokesperson at level 4. Hopefully we will be increasing our assistants to level 12, our medic to level 4. This would be another 18k increase, which will be do-able as long as we continue to win and grow the club. In the end, we want to be making money every week.

I feel like most of these goals are very achievable this season. As long as we continue to grow as a club, I will feel like the season will be a success. Thank you for everyone who supports Orange Crush FC and good luck to all our teams in the up coming season.

Training 4/10/14

I worked on Set Pieces this past week with tremendous results. We had 20 of 23 players improve in that department. Everyone in Hattrick should be doing Set Pieces training this week because of the lack of matches. We will be doing Set Pieces for another week because there is only one game for the week of training. After that we will look at training scoring. We feel like we have a tremendous opportunity this year to improve some players that are a little weak with scoring. Also we feel like our defense is very solid and our midfield will be good enough for now. The season is upon us and training will be very critical as we look forward with our club.

Season 3 Recap

We had a very successful year overall for Orange Crush FC. We grew as a club, and now the standard for our club is only getting bigger as we continue to move forward with our vision. I feel like our club is growing together in a way where we can take the next step and challenge teams in Division 3 very soon. Let’s take a look back at our goals for season 3 and recap.

Win the League: We had maybe our best campaign ever as we did not lose one match in our league this year as we took home the title once again. That’s back-to-back titles, but no auto-promotion as we lost a tough qualification match and stay in Division IV.6. It’s not a bad thing to stay in this division, since as a club we are not physically ready to compete in the next division, but the experience in the higher divisions is valuable and something that hopeful our club will look forward to. Two titles in 3 seasons is a great start to our club.

Advance to Round 2 of the Cup: We had a decent draw, but honestly some how lost the game. It was one of those games which we had the control of the game, they just converted every single opportunity. It was disappointing because I would like to get to the next round for the extra revenue. A home match in the cup could have easily drew us 200k to put into the bank. That’s why it’s important to win cup matches, especially when you know your status in the league.

Buy a Solid Coach: I accomplished this, but slightly changed my plan on the type of coach I wanted. I was looking for a solid coach with solid leadership which would have cost me 2.55m. After exploring my options, I choose to drop a level in leadership to passable and only pay 1.75m. I felt the extra 800k was not worth the investment at this time, and used the money on other areas of the club. With the way the staff system works, in the end, I decided it was worth the gamble. Now I have a better skilled coach, I can only hope it will help my training.

Training: We choose to work on Playmaking and Defending for the most part of season 3. Playmaking was so-so at best. I was disappointed with the amount of increases we had, but in the end the most important players got their training and that’s what counts. Defending was excellent this year. We had so many players pop in this skill, it has given me the confidence to go with an attacking coach because of it. Our defense, when players are in form, I feel is on par with everyone else in the league. That’s a huge plus as we decide to work on other phases of our game.

Arena: We weren’t planning on expanding this year because of our investment into our coach. But we made some adjustments and made more revenue then originally thought. With that, we expanded our stadium at the end of the season from 22,000 to 28,000. This will only grow our club much more and with the extra revenue that come with it. This was huge plus and a bonus from this year. It just goes to show you, when you winning, you have more chances for extra revenue streams.

Staff: Our staff was sitting on 18 people, with the idea that we would expand to 24 and the end of this year. With the new staff system in place this has changed. We spent 32k/week on a staff this year. Our goal will be to slowly increase that with the new staff system. After taking some time with it, our staff will increase to 43k/week going into next year. I’ll get more into what will we do as a club with our staff in our Season 4 Goals.

Overall, I would give this season an A. We won the title by 5 points and accomplished our goals and then some. As we look forward to the future, our club continues to grow into the right direction. We are very excited for what is happening with this team in South Africa. Thank you to all of the teams in Division IV.6 for being competitive and thank you to all the people who support Orange Crush FC.

Dragoes de Joanesburgo v Orange Crush FC (1-0)

This match was a tough one to swallow. We had the right to play a qualification match after winning the title for season 42. We decided to play a 5-4-1 and lose the midfield on purpose for the match. They like to always come out in a 5-3-2 and counter attack. Obviously to us they are training defending as they were not very skilled other than defense. The idea was to lose the midfield on purpose, so there counter-attacks were useless and throw the game into a stall. Since I knew I couldn’t score during the actually match because there defense was way stronger than anything I have on offensive, I decided to try to play for a draw and win the game in a shootout. Apparently I gave up a penalty halfway through the first half, and that was the only goal of the game. I was very disappointed, because it looked my tactics really worked and that I had a real shot to maybe win the game, but in the end, our team was just not strong enough. Now I’m back into Division IV.6 to defeat my back-to-back titles. It will be tough, since our division has been so strong. We had a very successful campaign and look to improve the club in the off-season to make us very strong going into next season. I’ll be doing a recap of season 3 and the following week, instead of a post about our last match, I’ll be laying out our goals going into season 4. Thank you for everyone who supports Orange Crush FC!
