This headline comes from the official match report of Polomint’s Scottish Cup game against Strathclyde’s Lights_Out which The Mints won 2-1 after extra time! Man of the Match, Airidas Grist, scored both goals, the first from a penalty. Airidas also missed a penalty in the 32nd minute, probably due to overconfidence, according to the games commentator. “They had a very strong defence and relied on counter attacking”, said Rustyjack after the match, “but we had a stronger midfield and attack. Both teams wasted some chances but, in the end we came out on top and we look forward to the 6th round against Strathclyde’s CraigStar who have a 62,000 capacity stadium”.
Airidas Grist is Polomint’s most loyal player having been with the club for his entire football career. He joined The Mints in December 2008 and has played continuously with them since then and is now in his 11th season with the club. He was club captain for many seasons and has scored 86 goals including 7 hattricks. He is the club’s penalty taker and this season has scored 3 goals in the Cup campaign. Still only 29, Airidas is the model professional, always last to leave the training ground, and is the perfect role model for the younger players in the club.

Great to see The Mints continuing in the cup – hopefully the players will bring some of that cup-magic into the league games soon
Yes time is running out for a meaningful win in the league!
