Hyungwu Opens Account

A modest crowd of 4150 turned out on Wednesday morning to watch AS Uijeongbu 07 host Kaimosi Hospital of Kenya for a midweek friendly.

The home side fielded a 2-5-3 formation and despite some abysmal attack ratings managed to secure a 2-1 victory. The fans were in jubilant spirits 13 minutes into the match when Hyungwu Park, who joined Au7 just four days before, scored his first goal for the club and opened proceedings following a fantastic break down the left.

We hope it will be the first of many ...

Fellow ‘NKOTB’ Soysal Üs scored Au7′s second of the match ten minutes later and had another good attempt on goal in the 55th minute but was denied by 18 year old Kenyan keeper Kamara Kipketer. (How is that for some alliteration?) Kipketer was on fire in the second half and also kept Liu Ronghui from scoring in the 66th minute; the visitors pulled one back in the 84th minute from the penalty spot. An exciting match for the neutral and one to enjoy for the Uijeongbu faithful.

Julius ‘Madman’ Pagal was voted MOTM but it was Hyungwu that received a standing ovation at the end of the match. It looks like he’s off to a good start so far!
