Ligue 1 transfer window to open early this summer

The LFP has announced that the transfer window will open earlier than usual this year, in light of the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup.

Typically, the transfer window in France begins in mid-June, about a month after the Ligue 1 season ends. However, this year, it will open on June 1st, as confirmed by the LFP on Thursday. The shift is primarily due to the upcoming Club World Cup, which will run from June 14th to July 13th.

By opening the window earlier, clubs involved in the competition, specifically Paris Saint-Germain (France’s sole participant), will have more time to strengthen their squads ahead of the tournament. While this adjustment appears to benefit PSG, all Ligue 1 clubs will be able to make signings.

The closing date for the transfer window has not yet been determined, as discussions are ongoing with other European leagues to ensure that Ligue 1 aligns with their transfer timelines.
