Serie A Coach Salaries Revealed: Antonio Conte Leads the Way

Antonio Conte - Napoli

The financial details for all 20 Serie A coaches for the 2025-26 season have been released, offering a glimpse into the managerial pay landscape in Italy’s top flight. The figures confirm the value placed on elite-level experience, with a distinct gap emerging between the top earners and those at the other end of the salary scale. As expected, a former Scudetto winner and a new appointment at one of the league’s heavyweights tops the list.

The Top Earners in Serie A

Napoli boss Antonio Conte has emerged as the highest-paid coach in the Serie A for the 2025-26 campaign. Conte, who signed a new contract with the Partenopei in May, commands an €8m net wage, placing him comfortably ahead of his nearest rivals.

Following Conte are Massimiliano Allegri and Gian Piero Gasperini. Allegri, who returned to AC Milan last summer, and Gasperini, who was appointed by Roma, both earn €5m per season, sharing the second spot on the list.

A group of three coaches sits in the next bracket, with Vincenzo Italiano, Stefano Pioli, and Igor Tudor all earning an annual salary of €3m.

Mid-Table Wages and Below

Further down the list, Cristian Chivu of Inter and Maurizio Sarri of Lazio receive an annual salary of €2.5m each. Ivan Juric of Atalanta is next with a €2m wage.

The disparity in pay becomes more pronounced toward the bottom of the table. A number of coaches are earning less than €1m per season, highlighting the contrast in financial power and expectation across the league’s twenty clubs.

The Value of Experience at the Top

The published figures clearly illustrate the premium placed on proven success and experience in Italy’s top tier. The top three earners—Antonio Conte, Massimiliano Allegri, and Gian Piero Gasperini—are all multiple-time winners or highly respected veterans of the Italian game, leading clubs with high expectations. Conte’s €8m wage, in particular, demonstrates Napoli’s willingness to invest heavily to secure a coach capable of immediate success and silverware.

Conversely, the coaches earning less than €1m per season often represent clubs that have recently been promoted, have smaller budgets, or have appointed younger, less-established managers like Cesc Fabregas and Carlos Cuesta. Their compensation reflects a lower cost base and, perhaps, more modest targets for the season, with the primary objective being Serie A survival. The salary data confirms that in Serie A, as in much of European football, the size of a club’s financial commitment to its coach is a direct measure of its ambition and expected performance.
