New details emerge of Ronald Araújo’s Barcelona release clause

Nearly a month has passed since Uruguayan center-back Ronald Araújo put pen to paper on a new contract with Barcelona, and discussions surrounding his release clause have been ongoing.

Initially, reports suggested that his original €1 billion release clause had been significantly reduced to a more attainable €65 million. While that figure remains accurate, Cadena SER has now revealed a crucial detail that could impact any potential departure.

According to the latest information, the €65 million clause is only valid for the first ten days of the transfer window. Beyond that period, any club interested in signing the 25-year-old might have to negotiate a higher fee, depending on Barcelona’s demands.

Additionally, there is speculation that Araújo’s release clause could eventually increase to €85 million, adding another layer of complexity to any potential transfer.
