Bruno Génésio was delighted to announce the return of three key attacking players for Lille OSC ahead of their crucial home clash with AS Monaco on Saturday afternoon.
Jonathan David, Angel Gomes, and Matias Fernandez-Pardo all rejoined training this week. David and Gomes were back on the pitch Thursday after missing last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Stade Rennais due to minor muscular issues.
Meanwhile, Fernandez-Pardo, sidelined since early January, resumed training on Tuesday. The Belgian winger had been recovering from a torn ankle ligament sustained just ten minutes into the 1-1 draw against FC Nantes on January 4th.
Génésio expressed his satisfaction with the return of these players, saying, “Having several players back, particularly in attack, is not just a luxury—it’s fantastic news for us.” However, Lille will still be without several key figures, including Edon Zhegrova, Rémy Cabella, Ethan Mbappé, and Thiago Santos, while Mitchel Bakker serves a suspension.
A victory over Monaco would lift Lille to 4th place in the standings, and they could even move into 3rd if OGC Nice falter against struggling Montpellier HSC.
